Keda LAG Joined a Large Scale Environmental Campaign on Earth Day
On April 22, the world celebrated Earth Day with a focus on mobilizing the world to end plastic pollution. The EU supported Keda Local Action Group (LAG) joined the large scale environmental campaign Keep Georgia Beautiful (გარემოს გულისთვის) taking place all over Georgia.

In the framework of the event, Keda LAG mobilized the local community and organized clean-up and tree-planting action in the central park of the Keda town. Different tree species that were planted to celebrate the Earth Day were beforehand presented to the schools participating in the Niko Ketskhoveli School Competition from Adjara AR by the Batumi Botanical Garden. It has to be noted that Keda LAG will continue caring about the adopted territory and will organize more clean-up campaigns in the future.
The environmental campaign Keep Georgia Beautiful (გარემოს გულისთვის) intends to involve private companies, NGOs and governmental agencies in keeping the environment clean and green in the country. The campaign is implemented by CENN’s WMTR II program, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, and supported by USAID. All interested organizations and companies are welcome to join the campaign. It has to be noted, that the tree planting action in Keda was made possible under the CENN program – Sustainable Forest Governance in Georgia – Supported by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).

The project “Keda LEADER” is implemented with the financial support from the EU by Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) in partnership with the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Institute of Democracy (IoD) and Austrian Institute for Regional Studies and Spatial Planning (ÖIR).

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million (2013-2022), the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
